Living off-grid just south of the Grand Canyon’s rim, I began to observe and learn more about the plants surrounding me. Piñon pines were everywhere—resilient, aromatic, and full of life. I watched how the trees sealed their own wounds with golden resin and started experimenting with small batches to see how it could help with the scratches, sunburn, and dry skin I regularly picked up on the trail.
